The College of Wooster invites applications for a Research Technician in Mosquito Biology to start May 2020.
This position offers a combination of opportunities in research, teaching, and mentorship in a small liberal arts college setting, under the mentorship of an experienced researcher, instructor, and undergraduate mentor. This is a half- to full-time position depending on the preference of the employee and the possibility of teaching courses in an area of need in one of the academic departments. The employee in this position will work half-time as a research scientist in collaboration with Dr. Laura Sirot studying mosquito behavior, physiology, and reproductive biology. As part of the NIH-funded research position, the employee will oversee daily activities and needs of the research lab; conduct behavioral, physiological, and gene expression studies; analyze data (including RNAseq data); contribute to writing manuscripts; and help to supervise undergraduate researchers. The employee will also have the opportunity work up to half-time as an instructor for introductory science courses, depending on interest and department needs.
