Ohio Wesleyan University is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking candidates for the position of Clinical Counselor. This is a full-time ten-month position with benefits.

About you:

Ohio Wesleyan University seeks a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve Counseling Services as a Clinical Counselor. The University hopes to identify a generalist clinician with a strong developmental focus and diverse areas of interest. The successful candidate should have clinical experience working with college students or young adults, and familiarity with educational outreach. 

About us:                       

Counseling Services is a department within the Division of Student Engagement and Success and works collaboratively to support the mental health and well-being of students.  Work is primarily in person on campus at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Counselor provides individual and group counseling to students at Ohio Wesleyan University, both in person and virtually as needed.

Responsibilities and duties:  

Individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, educational outreach, consultation, training for faculty/staff/students, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling Services.  This is a full-time, 10-month position beginning August 1, 2022.  

Factors contributing success:   

Master’s degree in mental health counseling or social work; at least one year counseling experience; eligibility for Ohio licensure or license eligibility to practice independently in the state of Ohio as a psychologist, mental health counselor, or social worker required. The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in serving young adult populations, particularly those who identify as racially diverse, international, and/or first-generation college students. Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to form strong working/collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff members, and the ability to relate effectively with diverse members of the University community are also essential. 

Preferred Qualifications:  Ohio licensure to practice independently in the state of Ohio as a psychologist, mental health counselor, or social worker.
