Job Description

Ohio Wesleyan University ( is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus, Ohio.  

The Psychology Department and Neuroscience Program at Ohio Wesleyan University seek to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in psychology (behavioral neuroscience).  Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in hand by the start date of August 1, 2020, and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts context. The successful candidate will teach six credit hours per year including introductory neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, and a course in the candidate’s area of expertise designed for psychology and/or neuroscience students.  The introductory neuroscience and behavioral neuroscience courses include laboratory sections, also to be taught by the candidate. The candidate may also mentor undergraduate research projects. Candidates should be knowledgeable in behavioral neuroscience techniques and proper animal care, and be able to teach these to undergraduates. Candidates with expertise in any research topic that incorporates behavioral neuroscience techniques are encouraged to apply (including, but not limited to, learning & memory, addiction or psychopharmacology, motor control and locomotion, sensation and perception, brain trauma, neural repair, neurodegeneration, etc.).  All animal models are welcome, including non-rodent models. Candidates with postdoctoral teaching and/or research experience preferred.
